A 40-year-old man from Carlingford, N.B., has been charged following a series of events, including an assault, in the community.

On December 13, 2023, the Perth-Andover RCMP received a report that an individual had been held captive and assaulted by a 40-year-old man for two days, at a residence in Carlingford.

On December 18, subsequent to an investigation, members of the New Brunswick RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed a search warrant at the man's residence. Police seized a weapon that was believed to have been used in the assault, and the man was arrested at the scene.

On December 19, Dustin Davenport appeared in Woodstock Provincial Court, and was charged with:

  • Two counts of failure to comply with a probation order
  • Assault
  • Uttering threats against a person
  • Forcible entry on real property
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle

Dustin Davenport was remanded into custody, and is scheduled to return to court on December 22, for a bail hearing.

The investigation is ongoing.
