25-year-old man dies, one person injured following multi-vehicle collision

A 25-year-old man from Riverview, N.B., has died following a multi-vehicle collision in Kinnear Settlement, N.B.

On August 29, 2023, at approximately 7 p.m., members of the Caledonia Region RCMP responded to a report of a multi-vehicle collision on the Trans-Canada Highway near Kinnear Settlement. The collision is believed to have occurred when a truck that was travelling West on the highway, blew a tire and lost control, crossed over the median and hit a vehicle that was travelling eastbound. A separate collision occurred shortly after when one of the truck tires hit the windshield of another vehicle traveling eastbound. In total, four vehicles were involved.

The driver of the first vehicle impacted, a 25-year-old man from Riverview, N.B. was transported to hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries. The driver of the second vehicle affected suffered non-life threatening injuries, and the drivers of the third and fourth vehicles were not injured.

Members of the Petitcodiac and Havelock Fire Departments, Ambulance New Brunswick and Department of Transportation and Infrastructure also attended the scene. The truck has been sent for a mechanical inspection.

The investigation is ongoing.
