244 grams of suspected methamphetamine, firearms seized after traffic stop

Seized approximately 244 grams of suspected methamphetamine, three prohibited firearms, ammunition, weapons including brass knuckles, a sum of cash and trafficking paraphernalia.

On October 3, 2023, Saskatchewan RCMP's Meadow Lake and La Ronge Crime Reduction Teams were conducting proactive patrols on Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation.

Officers performed a traffic stop around 11 p.m. They observed illicit drugs and paraphernalia in the vehicle and arrested the adult female driver and the male passenger.

Officers located and seized approximately 244 grams of suspected methamphetamine, three prohibited firearms, ammunition, weapons including brass knuckles, a sum of cash and trafficking paraphernalia.

As a result, 22-year old Lexis Storoschuk from Spruce Home, SK and 43-year-old Kevin Ackegan from Saskatoon are each charged with:

  • one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
  • one count, possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000, Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code;
  • one count, unsafe storage of a firearm, Section 86(2), Criminal Code;
  • one count, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, Section 94(2), Criminal Code;
  • three counts, unlicensed possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, Section 95(2), Criminal Code;
  • two counts, possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number, Section 108(2), Criminal Code;
  • one count, unauthorized possession of a firearm, Section 91(3), Criminal Code; and
  • one count, resist/obstruct peace officer, Section 129(a), Criminal Code.

Kevin Ackegan is also charged with four counts, fail to comply with probation order, Section 733.1(1), Criminal Code and four counts, possession of a weapon contrary to order and fail to surrender authorization, Section 117.01(3), Criminal Code.

He was also arrested on a warrant from Prince Albert Police Service.

Lexis Storoschuk and Kevin Ackegan appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court on October 4, 2023.
