Yellowknife RCMP respond to threat at Weledeh Catholic School in Yellowknife

Update

A thorough search of the school was completed and no device or explosive was found. The source and motivation of the threat as well as any connection to a previously reported threat, continue to be investigated.

This matter remains under investigation and anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Yellowknife RCMP or Crimestoppers.

Yellowknife NT, March 9, 2022 – Yellowknife RCMP have responded to a threat against Weledeh Catholic School in Yellowknife, NT.

Yellowknife RCMP were contacted by staff from Weledeh around 12:30 pm regarding a bomb threat made to the school. RCMP officers responded and are in the process of securing and searching the school.

Students from École St. Patrick's High School and Weledeh Catholic School have been safely evacuated. At this time no other schools have been impacted.

Yellowknife RCMP with the assistance of the G Division Police Dog Services, continue to investigate the source of the threat. The public is asked to avoid the area at this time.
