Virden RCMP investigate fatal two-vehicle collision

News release

On March 4, 2022, at approximately 12:10 pm, Virden RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 1, near Provincial Road 256, in the RM of Wallace-Woodworth. The collision involved two semi-trucks with trailers.

The initial investigation has determined that a semi-truck (vehicle 1) was travelling east on Highway 1 when it rear-ended another semi-truck (vehicle 2), going in the same direction.

The driver of vehicle 1, a 23-year-old male from Winnipeg, was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.

The passenger a 28-year-old male from Winnipeg, had minor injuries and was treated at scene.

The driver of vehicle 2, a 36-year-old male from Winnipeg, was not injured.

Road conditions appear to be a factor in the collision.

Virden RCMP continue to investigate.
