News release

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Clandestine Lab Enforcement and Response Team is executing a series of search warrants at four Montréal residences following the recent discovery of two clandestine labs manufacturing synthetic drugs and tablets. Sophisticated equipment for large-scale production was seized.

Two suspects were arrested and questioned and could face potential charges. The search warrants also included the suspects' residences and vehicles.

The investigation began at the end of January, following a seizure by the Canada Border Services Agency.

The RCMP had to act quickly in this investigation to ensure public safety. More than 40 members were engaged for the operation, which also required assistance from the Service de Police de la Ville de Montréal.

Members of the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU) lab team are safely dismantling the two labs. This operation could take several days.

Analysis of the substances and production potential is underway.

Investigators have not ruled out the possibility of further arrests and search warrants.
