Selkirk RCMP respond to home invasion

On August 6, 2022, just before midnight, Selkirk RCMP received a report of a home invasion at a residence located on Cil Road in the RM of St Clements.

The 911 call taker reported hearing a voice demanding car keys before the call was dropped.

Officers, who were close by, responded and confirmed that the victim's vehicle had been stolen.

The victim, a 73-year-old female, who suffered a minor physical injury, advised that a lone suspect, armed with a knife, entered her home and demanded the keys to the vehicle and fled the scene.

Officers located an abandoned vehicle nearby and were able to track the suspect and stolen vehicle to a nearby business located in the RM of St Paul.

Blake Andrew Morris, 43, from Winnipeg, was arrested without incident for Break and Enter and Possession of Stolen Property.

He was taken into custody and released the following day by a Justice of the Peace for court scheduled August 26, 2022, in Selkirk, where he will face charges of Assault, Break and Enter, Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Possess Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Assault with a Weapon, Robbery with a Weapon and Mischief over $5000.00
