Second person charged, third arrested in connection with homicide of Joedin Leger

A second man has been charged, and a third man has been arrested in connection with the death of 18-year-old Joedin Leger of Moncton.

On June 15, 2022, the New Brunswick Major Crime Unit arrested a 20-year-old man in the Elgin area. On June 16, Hunter Nash England of Moncton appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and was charged with first degree murder. He was remanded in custody pending a court appearance on June 27 at 11 a.m.

Also on June 16, a 23-year-old man was arrested in Moncton in connection with the investigation. He will appear in Moncton Provincial Court on June 17 at 09:30 a.m.

On June 14, 18-year-old Riley Robert Sheldon Philips of Moncton was charged with first degree murder, and was remanded in custody. He will appear in court on June 27 at 11 a.m.

The charges stem from an incident on April 25, 2022 at a home on Logan Lane in Moncton. Police responded to a report of shots fired, and found 18-year-old Joedin Leger suffering from gunshot wounds. He later died of his injuries.

The investigation is continuing. Anyone who may have information regarding this matter is asked to contact the RCMP MCU or Crimestoppers.
