Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes: manslaughter charge laid after death of male on Hatchet Lake First Nation

On November 16, 2022 at approximately 10:40 a.m., Wollaston Lake RCMP received a report of an altercation at a residence on Hatchet Lake First Nation.

Officers located an injured individual at the residence, who was later declared deceased by EMS at the scene. He has been identified as 28-year-old Donald Mercredi of Hatchet Lake First Nation. His family has been notified and Victim Services offered to them.

A second adult male was arrested at the scene. Donald Mercredi, 56, of Hatchet Lake First Nation, is charged with one count, manslaughter, Section 236(b), Criminal Code.

The victim is the son of the accused.

Donald Mercredi, Sr. is scheduled to appear in La Ronge Provincial Court on November 18, 2022.
