Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes is investigating a suspicious death after a deceased person was located inside a residence in Denare Beach after a fire on October 14, 2022.

Please note, based on further information from investigators, we have corrected the street name for where the fire occurred.

On October 14, 2022 shortly before 9:00 p.m. local time (8:00 p.m. CST time), Creighton RCMP, along with Creighton Fire Department, responded to a report of a house fire on the 2400 block of Muskwa Street in Denare Beach, SK. A deceased person was located inside the residence and the RCMP is investigating in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service to determine the individual's identity. We stress, the individual's identity must be confirmed via autopsy before the RCMP is able to provide further information about them.

Based on investigation to date by Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service, the person's death is considered suspicious.

Based on investigation to date by the Saskatchewan Coroners Service, fire investigators with the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency and Prince Albert RCMP Forensic Identification Services, the fire is also believed to be suspicious. We do not have further information to release about the fire investigation at this time.

At this time, investigation has determined these suspicious events are not related to a recent increase in calls for service in Creighton RCMP Detachment area.
