RCMP investigate fatal house fire in Digby County

This morning, at 3:51 a.m., members of the Digby RCMP Detachment responded to a fatal house fire on 217 Hwy. in Roxville.

Upon arrival at the scene, the residence was engulfed in flames. A 76-year-old man suffering non-life threatening injuries managed to escape the home was taken to hospital by EHS. Due to the severity and unsafe conditions from the damage, a 66-year-old woman from Roxville was later found inside the home later this morning and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The RCMP is investigating the cause of the fire, with assistance from the Nova Scotia Office of the Fire Marshal and the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner's Office. The cause of the fire has not been determined, the investigation is ongoing.
