RCMP asking for public assistance in suspicious fire investigations in Hopefield

The Montague RCMP is asking for the public's help following three suspicious fires in Hopefield.

On November 11, 2022, shortly before 4 a.m., the Montague RCMP and, the Murray River and Murray Harbour Fire Departments, responded to a report of a structure fire on Route 201 in Hopefield.

The following day, on November 12, a second structure fire, which occurred overnight, was reported to the Montague RCMP.

RCMP investigators believe that a third structure fire which occurred on route 201 around October 30, is linked to the November 11 and 12 fires. This fire was not reported to the RCMP at the time it occurred.

The investigations have led RCMP investigators to believe that all threes fire are suspicious in nature. All three structures were unoccupied at the time of the fires.

Anyone with information about these fires or, who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area during these nights, is asked to contact the Montague RCMP at 902-838-9300. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

The investigations are ongoing.
