Prohibited driver arrested by West Prince RCMP

A 55-year-old man from Burton, PEI, has been arrested for driving while prohibited in Bloomfield, PEI.

On April 29, 2022, at approximately 8:40 a.m., members of the West Prince District RCMP responded to a report from the public of a vehicle driving dangerously at high rates of speed in O'Leary. The vehicle was quickly located by police on Route 145 in Bloomfield. The driver was arrested without incident and was found to be driving contrary a Court order preventing him from doing so.

The man was later released and will appear in Summerside Provincial Court at a later date. His vehicle was seized and impounded for six months at the owner's expense.

The RCMP would like to thank the public for their ongoing efforts to help keep PEI roadways and communities safe.

Prince District RCMP will continue to focus on aggressive drivers and those who commit criminal driving offences such as flight from police, prohibited driving, impaired driving and dangerous driving. If you suspect or are aware of a dangerous driver, please call 911 immediately in a safe manner. Providing information when possible such as a vehicle description, location, licence plate and direction of travel can help police get dangerous drivers off the road.
