On April 10, 2022, at approximately 11:10 am, RCMP received a report of three adults that were stranded on the Winter Road, approximately 100 kms north of Lynn Lake, on their way to Tadoule Lake.
The group had left Lynn Lake at approximately 3:00 am, and had gotten stuck on the Winter Road at approximately 7:00 am. They used a satellite phone to stay in contact with family and RCMP.
RCMP chartered a helicopter and began searching for the group. Their exact location was unknown and the search was postponed at nightfall. RCMP remained in contact with the group and they had food, gasoline, fuel and had started a fire, so it was determined they would be safe overnight.
The following morning RCMP returned searching and at 9:00 am, the three adults were located safe and in good health.
The Manitoba RCMP would like to remind motorists that most winter roads are now closed and are unsafe for travel. You may face fines and charges if you decide to travel.
