On March 4, 2022, a Whitehorse man was convicted on three charges related to property offences in August and October 2021. The original news release about arrests is available here.
Kyle McCormick, age 29, was sentenced to six months time served and 18 months probation. He was convicted of one count of theft and two counts of break and enter. He has since been released from jail.
"Whitehorse RCMP continues to investigate any calls related to break and enters or property crime in the community," says Whitehorse RCMP GIS investigator Cst. Bradie Koshman. "Anyone with security concerns about their home or business is encouraged to ensure their surveillance cameras work properly, consider installing motion-sensor lights, lock doors when away, and watch out for suspicious behaviour in your neighbourhood."
Further tips to prevent thefts are available here.
If anyone finds that a break and enter or theft has taken place at their home or place of work, please contact police right away in order to allow for police to investigate, collect evidence, and attempt to recover stolen items.
