September 30, 2022
Pinehurst, Nova Scotia

News release

On September 29, 2022, at approximately 3:40 p.m., Lunenburg District RCMP, fire and EHS responded to a report of a head-on collision between a sedan and SUV on Hwy. 10 in Pinehurst.

While on their way to the scene, officers learned the sedan was on fire in the roadway.

Upon arrival, our members located a 56-year-old female passenger deceased inside the SUV. The driver of the SUV, a 67-year-old male, and a 4-year-old female passenger, were seriously injured and transported to hospital.

The 77-year-old female driver of the sedan escaped the fire post-collision and has moderate injuries; she also attended the hospital for treatment.

Hwy. 10 was closed for several hours but has since reopened. A collision reconstructionist attended the scene and the investigation is ongoing.

Our thoughts are with the victim's family at this difficult time.
