Leduc RCMP General Investigation Section execute search warrant and charge one male following shooting

On May 17, 2022, Leduc RCMP received a report of a male who had arrived at Leduc Community Hospital suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a hospital in Edmonton via ground ambulance with serious injuries.

On May 19, 2022, Leduc RCMP General Investigation Section with the assistance of Leduc Drug Unit and Crime Reduction Unit, Central Alberta District General Investigation Section and the RCMP Emergency Response Team, executed a search warrant on a residence in Leduc County.

As a result of the search, one individuals was arrested and charged with various offences. The search resulted in the seizure of ammunition, firearm pieces and approximately 20 grams of fentanyl, 70 ml of GHB, 200 pills of prescription medication and 3 grams of methamphetamine.

A 33-year-old individual, of Leduc County, Alta., is charged with 16 offences including the following:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Discharging a firearm with intent to endanger life
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Possession of a controlled substance X3

Following a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, the 33-year-old individual was remanded in custody. The 33-year-old individual is scheduled to appear in Leduc Provincial Court on June 2, 2022.

This incident is believed to have been targeted and it is not believed there is a risk to the public.
