On Jan. 29, 2022, at approximately 10:20 p.m., while on a patrol Lac La Biche RCMP were stopped by two young adult males who were running across the main street.

The males told police that while outside a local business an unknown male pointed a shotgun at them. Lac La Biche RCMP attended the business, located and arrested the male. Further investigation revealed that the male was in possession of multiple firearms, tactical gear as well as a metal replica police style badge. Police seized a small radio, which was determined to be unable to access RCMP encrypted radio frequencies. No one was physically harmed during the incident.

A 32-year-old male of Lac La Biche was arrested and is facing seven charges including the following:

  • Pointing a firearm
  • Unsafe storage of firearms (x2)
  • Personating a peace officer

Following a judicial hearing, he was remanded in to custody and is scheduled to appear in Lac La Biche Provincial Court on Feb. 7, 2022.
