News release

On October 10, 2022, Kugluktuk RCMP, assisted by the Alberta RCMP Emergency Response Team, and Nunavut RCMP's Critical Incident Program, which included the Containment Team, arrested one male at a cabin outside of the community where he had been evading the police in Kugluktuk. It is believed that members of the public may have been assisting Kuliktana, therefore prolonging the incident.

David Kuliktana (29) was arrested without incident and charged with twenty-five (25) Criminal Code offences, including various assaults, pointing a firearm and fail to comply with court orders. The offences were alleged to have occurred in Kugluktuk between September 3 and October 5, 2022.

A bail hearing was held for Kuliktana on October 11, he has been remanded in custody. His next court appearance is on November 1, 2022.
