Between August 19 and August 21, 2022, Channel-Port aux Basques RCMP seized six vehicles for various violations.
On August 19,from 5:00 to 8:00pm, police conducted three traffic stops in Chanel-Port aux Basques and Millville and found the three drivers to be operating without insurance; all were ticketed for not having insurance. In addition, summary offence tickets were also issued for operating without a driver's license and registration. All three vehicles were seized and impounded.
On August 20, at approximately 5:00pm, an officer on patrol on Route 470 near Margaree observed a vehicle pass two vehicles on a solid line at a high rate of speed. The vehicle passed unsafely, going over 135km/h in a posted 80 zone. The 27-year-old driver was ticketed for both offences and his driver's license was suspended. His vehicle was seized and impounded.
A short time later, a traffic stop was conducted on Legallais Street in Channel-Port aux Basques. The 22-year-old driver showed signs of alcohol impairment. He provided a breath sample above the provincial limit. His license was suspended and his vehicle seized and impounded.
On August 21, at approximately 1:30 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on Hardy's Arterial Rd in Channel-Port Aux Basques. The 42-year-old driver was found to be driving with a suspended driver's license. He was ticketed and the vehicle was seized and impounded.
