Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigates homicide on Kehewin Cree Nation

On June 2, 2022 at 2:55 p.m., Bonnyville RCMP received a report of an unknown incident at a residence on Kehewin Cree Nation. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased male. Bonnyville RCMP secured the residence and the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit was called in to investigate.

The deceased has been identified as 20-year-old Calub Finlay of Lloydminster.

As a result of the investigation, RCMP have charged a 21-year-old individual with the following:

  • Second-degree Murder.

The individual has been arrested and taken before a justice where he has been remanded in custody with his next court date set for June 9, 2022, at St. Paul Provincial Court.

As this matter is now before the courts no further information is available.
