Yarmouth RCMP makes arrest, seize drugs and replica handgun following traffic stop

The Yarmouth Municipal RCMP recently conducted a traffic stop on Main Street in Yarmouth that resulted in the seizure of cannabis, cash and a replica firearm.

On April 4, 2021, at approximately 5:30 p.m., a member of the Yarmouth Municipal RCMP was on patrol in Yarmouth when they located a vehicle being driven by a man with arrest warrants from Halifax, Nova Scotia and Edmonton, Alberta. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle, and the man was arrested without issue. During the arrest, officers located cannabis, which lead to a search of the vehicle. As a result of the search, the RCMP member seized cannabis, over $400 in cash, and a replica handgun.

The driver, 25-year-old Brandon James Ogden of Yarmouth, has been charged with Possession of Cannabis for the Purpose of Distribution and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose. Ogden is also facing charges of Assault and Mischief related to the arrest warrant from Halifax and a charge of Assault Causing Bodily Harm related to the arrest warrant from Edmonton. Ogden remains in custody and will appear in court at a later date.

The investigation is ongoing.
