Whitbourne RCMP warns of man offering ride to young girl in Whiteway

Whitbourne RCMP is warning the public of a suspicious incident where a man operating a car stopped and offered a young girl a ride in Whiteway on June 4, 2021.

Shortly before 10:00 p.m. on Friday night, police received the report of the incident that occurred earlier in the evening at approximately 6:00 p.m. A teenaged girl was walking alone along the Main Road in Whiteway when a man driving a red car stopped, asked her for her name and offered her a ride. The girl continued walking and ignored the man and the vehicle drove away.

The man is described as having brown hair, being of an average build and appeared to be in his thirties.

RCMP NL asks parents to educate their children on what to do if approached by a stranger and asks the public to report any suspicious activities.
