South Indian Lake RCMP respond to drowning

News release

On September 11, 2021, at approximately 10:50 am, South Indian Lake RCMP received a report of a drowning by a remote cabin along Provincial Road 493 in O-pipon-Na-piwin Cree Nation (South Indian Lake), Manitoba. Officers attended and located a male in a small pond near the cabin. The 46-year-old male from Winnipeg was quickly recovered by officers, but was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Initial investigation has determined that the victim slipped in the mud on the banks of the pond and fell in the water.

The investigation is ongoing.
