Sheshatshiu RCMP investigates homicide, man arrested and charged with second degree murder

Sheshatshiu RCMP is currently investigating the murder of a 37-year-old woman in the community that occurred this morning (September 1, 2021). Fifty-one-year-old Eric Rich has been taken into police custody and attends court this afternoon to answer to a charge of second degree murder.

Residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the community over the next few days as officers with the RCMP Major Crimes Unit and Forensic Identification Services Section are in the community continuing the investigation.

There is currently no known risk to public safety.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is engaged and the investigation is continuing.
