Red Earth Cree Nation, Saskatchewan
As a result of continued investigation, Daven Head of Red Earth Cree Nation is charged with one count of second degree murder, section 235(1) of the Criminal Code, in relation to the death of 29-year-old Sean McKay.
Head is also charged with one count of aggravated assault, section 268 of the Criminal Code of a second adult male in relation to the same investigation and one count of failure to comply with an undertaking, section 145(4)(a) of the Criminal Code.
Head appeared in Nipawin Provincial Court on December 2 at 11:00 a.m.

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crime Unit investigating suspicious death in Carrot River Detachment area

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crime Unit, with the assistance of Carrot River RCMP and Nipawin RCMP Detachments, RCMP Forensic Identification Services, RCMP Police Dog Services and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service, are investigating a suspicious death which occurred on Red Earth Cree Nation early Tuesday morning.
Around 2:30 a.m. November 30, 2021, Carrot River RCMP responded to a report of an altercation at a residence on Red Earth Cree Nation. One adult male died at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing at this time and no charges have been laid. There will continue to be an increased police presence in the community as part of the investigation.
