RCMP warns against street racing

April 13, 2021
Otter Lake, Nova Scotia

News release

With the nicer weather upon us, street racers are once again gathering on Otter Lake Dr. in Otter Lake. During the evening of Sunday, April 11, Halifax District RCMP attended Otter Lake Dr. proactively to deter this activity. Over 100 vehicles came into the area and left once they saw the police presence.

The RCMP would like to remind the public that street racing and stunting are illegal, and drivers can be charged under the Motor Vehicle Act. The fine for stunting in Nova Scotia is $2,422.50.

Road safety is a priority for the RCMP, and we'd ask drivers to make it their priority as well. If you see someone driving unsafely on our roads, please report it by calling the RCMP at 1-800-803-RCMP (7267).
