Grand Bay-Westfield and Hampton, New Brunswick

News release

The Southeast District RCMP is asking for the public's assistance in relation to a rash of break, enters and thefts into residences, cottages and outbuildings in the Kingston Peninsula, N.B.

Since September 1, 2020, the Grand Bay-Westfield and Hampton RCMP detachments have received 12 reports of break, enters and thefts in the communities of Carters Point, Erbs Cove, Bayswater, Kingston, Kiersteadville and Summerville.

The incidents occurred at various times of the day and night and in most cases the suspect or suspects used force to gain entry into the properties. In most instances, the properties were unoccupied at the time of the thefts. The stolen property includes firearms, generators, money, copper, jewellery, prescription medication, household items and electronics, such as televisions and cellphones.

"Making sure your home is properly secured before leaving it unattended is the easiest way to deter thieves from targeting your property," said Cpl. Jullie Rogers-Marsh with the Grand Bay-Westfield RCMP. "Always check that doors are locked, the valuables inside are removed from plain sight and make sure to report any suspicious activity to police, regardless how remote the area may be."

If you live in the Kingston Peninsula region and had your property broken into, or if you have any information regarding these break, enters and thefts, please contact the Grand Bay-Westfield RCMP Detachment at 506-757-1020 or the Hampton RCMP Detachment at 506-832-5566.
