RCMP in Corner Brook arrest and charge man for possession of contraband tobacco

800 cartons of contraband cigarettes were seized by RCMP West District General Investigation Section in Corner Brook as part of a recent investigation.

A 37-year-old Corner Brook man was arrested and charged by the RCMP West District General Investigation Section in Corner Brook for possession of contraband tobacco on December 13, 2021.

As part of the investigation, police conducted a planned traffic stop with a pickup truck and found the driver in possession of a significant amount of contraband tobacco. The man was arrested for possession of unstamped tobacco and was released from custody.

The investigation continued with the execution of a search warrant on December 20, 2021, at a business, which resulted in an additional seizure of contraband tobacco, bringing the combined total seized to 800 cartons of contraband cigarettes.

The man is set to attend court at a later date.
