On April 28, 2021, Powerview RCMP responded to a report of a possible gunshot at a residence in Powerview.
Officers attended and confirmed that a window had been shot. No one was injured.
The subsequent investigation determined that a group of individuals with suspected gang affiliations, were in the community and were responsible for a number of violent incidents over the span of several hours. This group had attended multiple residences in the area and committed robberies, break-ins and numerous other offences.
With the assistance of RCMP Major Crime Services, National Weapons Enforcement Support Team, East District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team, Forensic Identification Services, Winnipeg Police Service and Manitoba First Nations Police Service, two individuals were identified and arrested.
Thomas Peebles, 29, of Winnipeg has been charged with;

Pointing a Firearm x2
Using a Firearm in the Commission of an Offence
Careless Use of a Firearm

Discharge Firearm with Intent
Mischief
Fail to Comply x3
Claudia Sumner, 19, of Winnipeg has been charged with;
Kidnapping with a Firearm

Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
A third individual, Josef Spence, is currently wanted in connection with this investigation and the RCMP are asking for the public's assistance in locating him. He is Indigenous, approximately 6'2", 160 lbs with brown hair and brown eyes.
Josef Spence, 22, of Winnipeg, has a warrant out for his arrest for the following charges;
Kidnapping with a Firearm
Robbery with a Firearm x2
Forcible Confinement
Breaking and Entering x2
Using a Firearm in the Commission of an Offence
Careless Use of a Firearm
Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

Assault
The investigation is ongoing and on May 4, 2021, a search warrant was executed on a vehicle and a shotgun was seized.
