Portage la Prairie RCMP seize meth during traffic stop

On April 17, 2021, at approximately 4:15 pm, Portage la Prairie RCMP initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on the Trans-Canada Highway, just outside Portage la Prairie in the RM of Portage la Prairie. Officers initiated the stop based on a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act investigation.

A 37-year-old male from Portage and a 40-year-old female from the RM of Portage were arrested. A search of the vehicle resulted in police seizing more than 9 ounces of methamphetamine, an undetermined substance that is being tested and properly identified, and a prohibited weapon.

The male was charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine and released from custody.

Amanda Caskey has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine, Fail to Comply with an Undertaking, and Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Weapon. She remains in custody.

The investigation continues.
