NT RCMP MCU have man charged with murder in custody

The Northwest Territories RCMP Major Crimes Unit are advising the public that Ahmed Mohamed, wanted for Murder and Assault Causing Bodily Harm, has been taken into custody.

The 21-year-old Ahmed Mohamed aka "Scotty" attended the Yellowknife Detachment on Saturday, June 26 at approximately 10 am. Mr Mohamed is charged with Murder s. 235 CC and Assault Causing Bodily Harm s.267(b) CC, related to the October 31, 2020 homicide in Yellowknife.

"NT RCMP Major Crimes Unit (MCU) has continued to investigate and locate Mr. Mohamed on these serious charges. We are thankful that he is now in custody, and the family and friends of the victim will be able to have this case move forward in the justice system" states Sgt Jason Hurley, Commander MCU.

Mr. Mohamed remains in custody and will appear in Territorial court on June 30, 2021.
