Let's meet Joe Dowden. Originally from Outer Cove, Newfoundland and Labrador, he is the Vehicle Installer for RCMP NL. Joe is the person responsible for transforming a plain car into a fully functional and equipped police vehicle.
His work involves adding electronics, flashing lights, computer equipment, decals and much more. Joe has been with the RCMP since 2019 and brought with him over 20 years' mechanical experience with a specialty in 12 volt wiring and diagnostics. His expertise in building cars and attention to detail was recently featured in a news story on the addition of two new covert police cars to RCMP NL Traffic Services.
When Joe is not busy working on the fleet of police vehicles, he can be found in his home garage teaching his two young daughters, Mia and Lucy, the tools of the trade. Joe Dowden is #YourRCMPNL.
