On Tuesday, July 20, beginning at 2:00 p.m., there will be an official grand opening event for the new RCMP Detachment at 28 West Link Road in Rocky Harbour, Newfoundland and Labrador. Attendees will include RCMP Commissioner Brenda Lucki; Assistant Commissioner Ches Parsons, Commanding Officer of RCMP NL; Gudie Hutchings, Member of Parliament for Long Range Mountains; Premier Andrew Furey, Member of the House of Assembly for the District of Humber-Gros Morne; John Hogan, Minister of Justice and Public Safety; a representative of the Town of Rocky Harbour, as well as local residents and representatives from surrounding communities. Northern Peninsula District Commander Sergeant David Cooper will act as emcee.
The ceremony will include a ribbon cutting and a tour of the detachment.
