Glovertown RCMP seizes car traveling at excessive speed, driver compelled to court to face charges

This car was seized by Glovertown RCMP for excessive speeding on the TCH in Terra Nova Park on August 22, 2021.

An 18-year-old man was compelled to court to face a number of charges after being stopped for excessive speeding by Glovertown RCMP on August 22, 2021.

At approximately 1:00 a.m., on Sunday, police were conducting speed enforcement on the Trans-Canada Highway in Terra Nova National Park and observed a car traveling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle's speed was displayed as 132 km/h in the 90 km/h zone. As police pulled out behind the vehicle, its speed increased, traveling up to 146 km/h through the 80 km/h zone near Newman Sound Campground. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, who owes nearly $17,000 in outstanding fines, was provided a court date to answer to charges of excessive speeding, imprudent driving, driving without a driver's licence, and driving without insurance.

The vehicle was seized and impounded.
