Dauphin RCMP arrest male for attempted kidnapping

On May 13, 2021, at 2:35 pm, Dauphin RCMP received a report of a male attempting to stab a female at a residence located on 3rd Avenue SE in the City of Dauphin.

Officers attended the scene and were advised that a male had broken into the home armed with a knife and grabbed a 21-year-old female, who was known to him, and forced her out of the residence. They fled on foot.

Patrols were made in the immediate area, and officers located the suspect, along with the victim, a short distance away. The suspect was arrested without incident. The victim was unharmed. Officers located the knife nearby.

30-year-old Daniel Allen Renner, of Dauphin, was remanded into custody on charges including Kidnapping, Breaking and Entering, Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose and Fail to Comply with a Release Order.

Dauphin RCMP continue to investigate.
