A 23-year-old man was ticketed by RCMP Labrador Traffic Services for a number of traffic offences after posting a video of dangerous driving on social media.

On June 28, 2021, police received the report of a video that was circulating on Snap Chat that showed a driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, travelling at speeds of approximately 170 km/hr while using a cell phone. The driver, who identified himself in the video, was doing all of this with a sleeping passenger on board.

On June 30, 2021, the man was ticketed by police for excessive speeding, not wearing a seat belt and using a cell phone while driving and his licence was suspended.

RCMP NL warns motorists of the dangers associated with travelling at high rates of speed, driving without a seat belt and using a cell phone while driving. Police will continue to investigate all reports of dangerous driving and warns motorists that content posted on social media may result in charges.
