Congratulations to Leah from Charlottetown, the P.E.I. winner of the 2021 RCMP Name the Foal contest.
Leah, a student from Grace Christian School in Charlottetown, chose the name "Tango" to enter into this year's contest. More than 3,000 entries were received from across the country to name the 14 foals.
On June 30, 2021, Supt. Kevin Lewis presented Leah with a Musical Ride horseshoe, a picture of the foal she named and a signed letter from RCMP Commissioner Brenda Lucki.
Each year, the RCMP encourages children, 14-years-old and under, to submit names during the contest. This year's contest was for names that began with the letter "T". Submissions are carefully considered by the members of the RCMP Musical Ride and Heritage Branch. These foals may grow up to be a part of the RCMP Musical Ride and appear in various public functions, such as parades, Royal escorts, and other special events.
Make sure to keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter pages for next year's contest!
