The New Brunswick RCMP has arrested two people and seized quantities of cocaine and weapons as part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking in the province.

On April 15, 2021, at around 5:15 p.m., police executed a search warrant at a home on Pointe du Chêne Road in Shediac. The following morning, at around 1:25 a.m., a search warrant was also executed at a home on Anastasia Crescent in Moncton. Police seized quantities of what is believed to be cocaine, hydromorphone, marijuana shatter, dried cannabis and psilocybin, as well as drug paraphernalia. Police also seized two firearms, several prohibited knives, a set of brass knuckles, and quantities of Canadian currency.

A 29-year-old man from Shediac and a 27-year-old man from Moncton were arrested at the scenes and released pending court appearances in July 2021.

The investigation was conducted as part of a coordinated law enforcement approach that involves resources from the New Brunswick RCMP, as well as the Woodstock Police Force and Fredericton Police Force. These efforts focus on disrupting and dismantling the trafficking of illegal drugs in our province, targeting those causing the most harm in our communities.

The public plays an important role in helping to reduce, prevent and solve crime, including the trafficking of illegal drugs. Anyone with information about, or who suspects, illegal drug activity in their neighbourhood is asked to contact their local police. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), by downloading the secure P3 Mobile App, or by Secure Web Tips at www.crimenb.ca.
