On June 7, 2021 at approximately 6:30 p.m., Buffalo Narrows RCMP received a complaint that a group of possibly-armed individuals was outside a residence on the 400 block of Tom Street in Buffalo Narrows.
They had already left when police arrived. Investigation revealed that these individuals had threatened an occupant of the residence with a firearm.
Officers from the Buffalo Narrows, Dillon, Turnor Lake and La Loche RCMP detachments, as well as RCMP Police Dog Services, assisted in locating and arresting all the individuals that evening. Officers also seized a loaded firearm, ammunition and other weapons in relation to this investigation.
Six individuals were arrested as a result of this investigation:
- Mitchelle Ballantyne (DOB: 1996-01-05) of Ile a la Crosse, SK
- Kayla Bouvier, (DOB: 1989-02-18) of Ile a la Crosse, SK
- Timothy Corrigal (DOB: 1991-03-29) of Ile a la Crosse, SK
- Anthony Couillonneur (DOB: 1997-05-26) of Cole Bay, SK
- Abraham McCallum (DOB: 1982-05-03) of Buffalo Narrows, SK
- Derek Moate (DOB: 1987-07-05) of Ile a la Crosse, SK
Each individual is charged with:
- 1 count, assault with weapon, Section 267(a), Criminal Code
- 1 count, use firearm in the commission of an offence, Section 85(3), Criminal Code
- 1 count, pointing a firearm, Section 87(2), Criminal Code
- 1 count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(2), Criminal Code
- 1 count, carry concealed weapon, Section 90(2), Criminal Code
- 1 count, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm/weapon, Section 92(3)(a), Criminal Code
- 1 count, possession of firearm/weapon in a motor vehicle, Section 94(a), Criminal Code
- 1 count, possession of weapon obtained by crime, Section 96(2), Criminal Code
Ballantyne has been also charged with one count of fail to comply with probation order, Section 733.1(1), Criminal Code. McCallum has also been charged with two counts of possessing a weapon contrary to order, Section 117.01(3), Criminal Code and one count of fail to comply with release order, Section 145(5)(a), Criminal Code.
All were to appear in court on June 9, 2021.
