Blackfalds RCMP execute search warrant, seize illegal drugs

In September 2021, Blackfalds RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) launched a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) investigation in Red Deer, Alta.

On Sept. 30, 2021, Blackfalds RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) with the assistance of Blackfalds RCMP Detachment members, Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Ream (CRT), Red Deer RCMP Serious Crimes Branch and RCMP Police Dog Services, executed a search warrant at a residence in the area of Highland Green in the City of Red Deer.

As a result of the search warrant, police seized 2.5 ounces of Fentanyl, 23 grams of Methamphetamine, a quantity of morphine pills, five stolen bicycles, firearms and ammunition.

A 52-year-old male of Red Deer, Alta. is facing the following charges:

  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking x 3
  • Possession contrary to order x 3

Following a Judicial hearing, he was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on Oct. 28, 2021.

A 45-year-old male of Red Deer, Alta. was arrested on outstanding warrants.

He is facing the following additional charges:

  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Fail to comply with release order x 4

Following a Judicial hearing, he was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on Oct. 28, 2021.

As this matter is now before the courts, no further information can be released.
