Bay Roberts RCMP is investigating a theft that occurred on March 15, 2021, at the Newfoundland and Labrador Liquor Corporation located at the Beaver Plaza Mall in Bay Roberts.
At approximately 3:15 p.m. on Monday, police received the report of the theft. An individual, who appeared to be a man, entered the store, concealed three 60-ounce bottles of rum into his coat exited the store without paying and departed in a red Toyota Corolla. Less than an hour later, an individual, who appeared to be a man, entered the premises, proceeded to a different area of the store and was acting in a suspicious manner that was noticed by staff. The man attempted to place three bottles of vodka inside his jacket. Police suspect the man became aware he was being watched as he placed the bottles back on the shelf, exited the store and departed in a red Toyota Corolla.
Upon review of the surveillance footage, it was determined that although the jackets, hats and face masks were different, the same man was involved in the two occurrences.
