Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigate the discovery of human remains

On Nov. 3, 2021, at 11:10 a.m., Parkland RCMP with the assistance of Parkland RCMP General Investigation Section and Devon RCMP, responded to found human remains in the area of Highway 60 below the Devon bridge.

Parkland RCMP's investigation into the circumstances surrounding the found human remains are believed to be suspicious. As such, the Alberta RCMP Major Crime Unit attended and took over carriage of the investigation. The Alberta RCMP Major Crime Unit, along with the assistance of Parkland RCMP General Investigation Section and the RCMP Forensic Identification Services, continue to investigate the suspicious death.

An autopsy is scheduled to be completed on Nov. 4, 2021, by the Edmonton Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The Alberta RCMP Major Crime Unit are asking for anyone who saw anything suspicious or has dash camera footage from driving on the bridge from the evening of Nov. 1, 2021, to the morning of Nov. 3, 2021, to please contact Parkland RCMP at 825-220-2000.
