The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit's investigation into the homicide of Aubrey Skelding (40) of Cold Lake, Alta. on Aug. 18, 2020, has resulted in an arrest and charge.

On March 21, 2021, RCMP arrested a 55-year-old male from Cold Lake, Alta. who has been charged with one count of second degree murder.

A Judicial Interim Release Hearing was held on March 21, 2021, and he was remanded into custody with a first appearance date of March 24, 2021, in Cold Lake Provincial Court.

As this matter is now before the courts, no further updates will be provided.

Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigate homicide – Cold Lake

Cold Lake RCMP and the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit are investigating after an adult female was located deceased inside a residence on Cold Lake First Nation.

On Aug. 18, 2020 at approximately 2:10 a.m., Cold Lake RCMP responded to a report that a female had been shot inside a residence. Police detained an adult male in relation to this incident but have since released him without charge.

An autopsy was completed at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on Aug. 20, 2020, and the manner of death has been deemed a homicide.

The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit continue to investigate and are asking anyone with information regarding this homicide to contact the Cold Lake RCMP Detachment at 780-594-3302.
