The adult male who was shot on March 15, 2020 has succumb to his serious life-threatening injuries while in hospital.

An autopsy has now been completed at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton and the death has been deemed a homicide. The police investigation into the incident confirmed the identity of the deceased man as Hanad Mohamed (30) of Fort McMurray.

The RCMP Major Crimes Unit has assumed carriage of the investigation and police continue to request anyone that may have video or dash camera footage in the area of 200 Lougheed Drive from March 15, 2020 between 6-7 a.m., to contact Wood Buffalo RCMP.

Backgrounder

On March 15, 2020 at approximately 6:30 a.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to a report of shots fired inside an apartment complex on Lougheed Drive.

Police responded and located two adult males suffering from non-life-threatening injuries and an additional adult male suffering serious life-threatening injuries. The three males were transported by EMS to hospital.

Buffalo RCMP General Investigative Section continue to investigate. Police do not believe this was a random incident.
