Update 2: Police operation in Riverdale

On April 15th, 2020, RCMP became aware of an injured man with a serious stab wound. Multiple Yukon RCMP units, including the Crime Reduction Unit, Whitehorse Detachment and Major Crime Unit worked on the investigation and identified a suspect.

The Emergency Response Team were called to assist in executing a search warrant on April 24th, 2020 at a residence in the Riverdale neighborhood, where the suspect in the stabbing was arrested without incident. Police also noted drugs, cash and trafficking paraphernalia upon entry into the residence.

Subsequent to obtaining a second search warrant, the Crime Reduction Unit and Major Crime seized, amongst other items:

  • drug trafficking paraphernalia;
  • bundles of cash;
  • an amount of suspected cocaine.

Two suspects, 23-year-old Garron Kuster from Whitehorse and 22-year-old Lorne Ryan-Mackinnon from British Columbia, were arrested and charged with Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking. Lorne Ryan-Mackinnon is also charged with Aggravated Assault in relation to the April 15th stabbing incident.

The matter remains under investigation.
