On March 7, 2020, shortly after 6:30 p.m., members from the Tracadie and Neguac RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance on chemin du Parc, in Val-Comeau.
A 41-year-old man was found nearby and appeared to be assaulted. He was transported to hospital where he was treated for his injuries and released. He was later taken into custody.
Kevin Légère appeared in Tracadie Provincial Court on March 11, and was charged with three counts of uttering threats, driving without a licence and failure to comply with a probation order. He was then released from custody and is scheduled to return to court to enter a plea on March 25.
A 37-year-old man was also arrested in relation to the incident. Pascal Charest appeared in court on March 12 and was charged with assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon and failure to comply with a probation order. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in court on March 17 for a bail hearing.
A third person, a 37-year-old man, was also arrested and released. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 24.
