On Oct. 7, 2020 at approximately 3:30 p.m., St. Albert RCMP responded to a Costume Shop in Tudor Glen regarding a theft that had just occurred. Investigators learned that an entire display case of costume contact lenses had been stolen. The lenses were valued at approximately $7000.
The St. Albert Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) assisted with the investigation and on October 22, 2020, with the assistance of the General Investigation Section (GIS) and General Duty members, executed a search warrant at an address in Edmonton for the stolen mechanise. The search of the residence recovered the following items:
- The stolen contact lenses
- Three firearms
- Methamphetamine
- Fentanyl
- GHB
As a result of the investigation a 42-year-old male and a 36-year-old female, both from Edmonton, are facing numerous charges including:
- Theft Over $5000
- Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000
- Trafficking in Stolen Property under $5000
- Possession of a Firearm with Tampered Serial Number
- Possession of a Controlled Substance X 3
- Unauthorized Possession of Firearms X 3
Both individuals are scheduled to appear in St. Albert Provincial Court on Dec. 21, 2020.
