Slave Lake RCMP investigating traffic fatality

The RCMP are investigating a serious collision, which occurred on Jan. 18 and resulted in the death of one male.

At 7:08 p.m., Slave Lake RCMP responded to the two vehicle collision, which occurred near the intersection of Highways 2 and 2A. Smith Fire Department and EMS attended.

A pick up truck and a semi tractor trailer unit collided on Highway 2. The lone occupant of the pick up truck, a 59-year-old male was declared deceased. The 64-year-old male driver of the semi truck suffered minor injuries.

An RCMP collision analyst attended to conduct a scene examination. Traffic on the highway was diverted until the collision was cleared, shortly after 3 a.m. on Jan. 19.

The collision remains under RCMP investigation. No further details are available.
