On April 10, 2020, Matthew Alvin Dueck, 36, was charged with Flight from Police, Assault with a Weapon on a Police Officer and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle. He also had an outstanding warrant of arrest for numerous property related offences. Matthew Dueck was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in court on April 20, 2020.

On April 10, 2020, at approximately 2:05 am, Selkirk RCMP were patrolling in the area of Highway 9 and Grassmere Road, when they noticed a suspicious vehicle.
Officers initiated a traffic stop on the suspicious vehicle on a road near Neltner Drive and Lara Lane. As they were attempting to stop the vehicle, a collision occurred and an officer discharged their weapon. The suspect vehicle then fled and a pursuit was initiated.
During the pursuit, a police vehicle struck and disabled the suspect vehicle on Highway 9, a short distance from the scene. Two male suspects then fled on foot.
RCMP Police Dog Services attended and assisted with the search for the suspects. One suspect has been arrested and officers are working on identifying and locating a second suspect.
RCMP Major Crime Unit, Forensic Identification Unit and Traffic Services are assisting with the investigation.
No officers were injured during the course of this incident.
